According to a report by the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative in June 2021, the Quandary Peak was rated to be the 2020 most popular 14’er in Colorado. The data released indicated that the Peak saw 49,179 hikers in 2020.

The 14er’s recent popularity has caused an increase in parking problems at the trailheads. Besides, the 14er is popular because of its relatively gentle ascent. Moreover, this feature makes it easy to climb from the east with minimal danger from the avalanche compared to other Fourteeners.

Main Trail Length

The Quandary Peak trail starts from a trailhead about 1.6kilometres North of Hoosier Pass at the east side of the Peak. The Peak’s trail is a 10.6kilometres heavily trafficked out and back trail.

The Quandary Peak is a few miles south of Breckenridge.
