Pyramid Peak is the 47th highest mountain peak in Colorado. In addition, it is recognized as the 78th highest peak in the United States.

This high mountain summit is located in the Elk Mountains in southeastern Pitkin County. Similar to other Peaks in the Elks like Mount Elbert, Pyramid Peak is quite steep.

Furthermore, this mountain is visible from the Roaring Fork River valley, taking the shape of a ragged square pyramid.

Interestingly, the first ascent of the Pyramid Peak was made by Percy Hagerman and Harold Clark in1909. According to records by several climbers, the easiest route to climbing this peak is through the exposed scramble.

The conventional climbing routes on Pyramid Peak include the northeast and northwest ridges. These routes involve very difficult route-finding in terms of high exposure and a great deal of loose rock. Hence, climbing this mount is recommended for experienced adventurers only.
