Mount Lincoln was discovered in 1874. Furthermore, it was named in honor of Abraham Lincoln - the 16th president of the United States.

In addition, Mount Lincoln is located in Pike National Forest. Besides, the summit is the highest point in Park Country and the whole drainage basin of the Missouri River.
