This Mountain is located in La Plata County, Colorado, U.S. It was originally named after the Greek god of wind, Eolus, in the 1874 Hayden Survey by a topographer named Franklin Rhoda. The present name of this mountain is featured in the Wheeler Survey of 1878.

Along with Sunlight Peak and Windom Peak, Mount Eolus is part of the alpine circle in the Weminuche Wilderness Area. In comparison to other Colorado Fourteeners, Eolus offers unique scenery and highly sought-after Class 3 scrambling.

Elevation

It is the 33rd highest peak in Colorado. It features an elevation of 14,083 feet (4,295 m). It has a Prominence of 1,024 ft (312 m) and isolation of 1.69 miles (2.72 km).

Main Trail Length

The Chicago Basin to Mount Eolus is a heavily traveled 28.0km out and back trail. It features an elevation gain of 1,776 meters located near Silverton, Colorado.

This trail features a lake. Besides, this trail is recommended for experienced hikers and mountaineers. Fishing, camping, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities are allowed on the trail. It is best used from July till September.
