Mount Cameron is located in the Chugach Mountains in the United States. Further, it is situated at the center of a topographic triangle anchored by Mount Democrat, Mount Bross, and Mount Lincoln known as The Decalibron. Moreover, Mount Cameron makes up the "Ca" part of the DeCaLiBron hike.

The name "Mount Cameron" was coined by local prospectors as reported by the United States Geological Survey in 1912. Mount Cameron is situated in a subarctic climate zone that features long, cold, and snowy winters.

Surprisingly, Mount Cameron is only named but unranked because it belongs to a small club of fourteeners peaks. In 1874, silver was discovered around the mountain; this made the area dominated for mining.
