Mount Antero is the highest Colorado mountain named in honor of Chief Antero - a native Indian American. He was of the Uintah band of the Ute people. Further, the summit is located due South of the more visually prominent Mount Princeton and surveyed by the Pike expedition of 1806. Besides, the mountain is situated in the San Isabel National Forest. A wealth of fine gemstone deposits has been mined from Antero's Slopes, making it popular among rock hounds. Interestingly, it has one of the highest concentrations of aquamarine in the country. Amazingly, Mount Antero has beautiful views from the top to the bottom.
