Longs Peak was named after Major Stephen Harriman Long - an American army officer and explorer. He encountered it in 1820 but didn't climb the peak. Besides, the first ascent recorded was on the 23rd of August, 1868, by John Wesley Powell and Party. Again, the first woman to ascend the mountain's trailhead was Addie Alexander in 1871 Further, Longs Peak is known as the highest point in Boulder County and Rocky Mountain National Park. It is also the northernmost fourteener in the Rocky Mountains. Prominently, Longs Peak can be seen from Longmont, Colorado. It resembles a beaver when viewed from the northeast. It is located in the Rocky Mountain National Park Wilderness of the Town of Estes Park, Colorado, United States. Longs Peak is a fantastic summit which makes it one of the most desirable Peaks in Colorado. Nevertheless, it is one of the toughest fourteeners to climb.

Longs Peak has an elevation of 14,255ft (4345m) with an elevation gain of 1,536m. It is one of the most striking summits in Colorado, rising 9,000 ft (2,700 m) above the western edge of the Great Plains.
