Huron Peak is located in the Collegiate Peak Wilderness of San Isabel National Forest. It sits in the heart of the rugged region between Twin Lakes and Aspen.

This high mountain summit was named after the Huron Indians - Wyandot people.

Furthermore, Huron Peak is separated from its relatively close neighbor peaks by deep cols, resulting in a moderately high topographic prominence. Also, close to the south of Huron Peak is found the Three Apostles - a group of three thirteen thousand foot peaks.
