Castle Peak was originally named Mount Standford by the Whitney Survey. It is a summit in California's Sierra Nevada.

The name "Castle Peak" was given due to its castle-like features on its southern ridge. In addition, the Peak's northern and western summit areas are known as the Castle Peak Hinterland.
