Tabeguache Peak is close to Mount Shavano, approximately 1/2 mile (1 km) to the southeast, and almost considered the subpeak of Mount Shavano. In addition, Tanbeguache Peak is frequently climbed along with Mount Shavano.
This Peak is located east of the Continental Divide and west of the Arkansas River.
A band of Utes called the Tabeguache gave the mountain its name. "Tabaguache" means "People of Sun Mountain."
The mountain offers better views than its higher neighbor - Mount Shavano. Tabeguache Peak is technically not difficult to climb, but it does possess some snow routes on its North Face.

At 14,155 feet high, Tabeguache Peak is considered the 26th highest Peak in Colorado.
Mountain Range
Tabeguache Peak is a 14er mountain situated at the southern end in the Sawatch Range of Colorado. The view towards the north from its summit is an excellent vantage point for seeing the beauty of the Sawatch Range.
Main Trail Length
The Tabeguache Peak trail is an 11.3km out and backs South/Southwest Ridge via Jennings Creek near Salida, Colorado. However, it has been CLOSED!
Consequently, West Ridge via Jennings Creek is currently the standard route to Tabeguache Peak, though it's a bit longer than the old standard route. It is 7.2 miles (11.6 km) round trip from the summit with 3900 feet of elevation gain along the way.
