Mount Shavano is known as the "Angel of Shavano" which implies a snow formation in the image of an angel with its wings stretching outward during spring and early summer. Further, it emerges on the east side of the summit.

Furthermore, Mount Shavano received its name in honor of Chief Shavano - who led the Tabeguache Ute Tribe in the mid-1800s. Amazingly, Mount Shavano is the perfect spot for high country recreation which makes it one of Colorado's famous fourteeners. The summit is one any adventurer would want to check off their fourteener list.

Mount Shavano which stands 14,229ft (4,337m) high lies Eastward of the Continental Divide and westward of the Arkansas River.

Also, it has a prominence of 1,619ft (493m) and an elevation gain of 1356m.

Main Trail Length

Mount Shavano trail is a 15km moderately trafficked out and back trail. This route features a 9.4miles round trip. Besides, 6-7 hours RT is required to complete the mountain trail.
