Mount Harvard is ranked as the fourth-highest peak throughout the contiguous United States. Also, this mountain is the third-highest peak in Colorado.

Further, it was named aptly in 1869 by the first members of the Harvard Mining School class in honor of Harvard University.

The trailhead is attributed to a parking lot that is 5 miles ahead at the end of the road and located on the right for North Cottonwood Trailhead.
