Torreys Peak is a classic Colorado 14er located along the Continental divide along with its nearby neighbor; Gray Peak. Interestingly, Torreys Peak is the 11th mountain in Colorado. Importantly, Torreys Peak is a significant symbol of the ruggedness of Colorado's Rocky Mountains for thousands of climbers and non-climbers. In addition, the favorable summer weather condition added with the Peak’s well-trodden path to its summit ensures plenty of climbing activities and a sociable environment for gregarious hiking during the summer months. In particular, Torreys Peak is highly visible from Interstate 70 and features a variety of routes for adventurous hikers. Besides, Torrey Peak is recognized as a home to classic snow climbs and ski descents. Furthermore, Torreys Peak was named after the colleague of the first European man to ascend the Peak; Charles Christopher Parry. John Torrey – Charles's colleague saw the Peak in 1872.

Main Trail Length


What makes Torreys Peak unique and considered for skiing is its special three main trails used to get to the summit. The first main trail starts in Stevens Gulch; a continuation of Grays Peak trail. The way to Steven Gulch starts from I-70 West from Denver which is about 80 kilometers to Bakerville Road, exit 221. You then take Steven Gulch road South – about 4 kilometers to the trailhead. Further, the second trail follows class-3 Kelso Ridge which splits from Grays Peak trail; 3.2 kilometers from the trailhead. Lastly, the third trail begins at Loveland Pass which is 7.2kilometres to the Northwest.
